'People are intimidated' - why 'powerhouse' Arsenal are the side to defeat.

There's no doubt why Arsenal are now numerous fans' top picks to secure the Premier League during this term.

Look at their performances against Fulham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those identical matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have defeated all of them in the current season, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race last season.

Impenetrable Backline

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a key reason why they are looking well positioned to finally fulfil their title ambition.

They lead the league for clean sheets (6), goals allowed (3), shots faced (72), quality opportunities against (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the finest in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Superiority

Their threat from set-pieces is well known, but competing clubs still don't know how to contain the Gunners from these chances.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a daunting aura. People are just fearful of them and it is excellent to see."

Title Claims

What is especially impressive about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also encountered Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City at home - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they maintain victories, their historic competitors aren't faring so well. This marks the initial occasion at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The expectations was on manager Mikel Arteta at the start, having allocated around ÂŁ250m on eight summer signings in pursuit of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far paid off in style, with his side among the highest scorers in the league and having the tightest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Shutouts in three consecutive Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without letting in a goal
  • Only a handful of concessions in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and analysts have characterized Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now functioning with confidence and resolve.
